October’s featured member artist is Mary Ann Brinkley, who joined the gallery in 2007. Her work continues to change and grow. Currently her art reflects her love and fascination for nature in both 2D and 3D forms.
Mary Ann grew up as an “army brat”, living in a castle and then in barracks in Germany. It was there she lived next to a grove of trees and learned to climb and love them.
After moving back to the states her family lived all around the U.S. from California to New York, finally settling in Pennsylvania. While there, she taught school, including one for troubled youth, and she learned to fly a plane.
She returned to seriously creating her artwork after moving to St. Louis. She has continued to do so since moving to Hannibal more than 20 years ago and is constantly learning and experimenting with new ideas and materials and techniques. She is excited to show her newest work, some of which contain actual seed pods and wood shavings, and her latest paintings of trees.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
