First year Highland art teacher Andrew Myers will be the guest artist for the month. Andrew will be exhibiting work in a variety of mediums…from oils to pottery…representing the art he created during his time studying at Culver Stockton College and the art he is currently making. Andrew works at perfecting his skills in many different media so he can proficiently instruct his students and his current work is influenced by what he teaches in his classroom. These days, he considers drawing in charcoal his primary medium because it is a faster process that he can more easily do because of the time restraints of teaching. He says he considers himself primarily a drawer and can seldom be seen without his sketchbook. Andrew believes art is its own language and finds it easier sometimes to visually communicate his ideas better than he could with words.
