Chatting with Pat Kerns one day, Dr. Michael Bukstein summarized his approach to life: “Show Gratitude. Be Mindful. Seek Joy.” Those words deeply resonated with Pat, and she immediately saw the connection between those three statements and her art. She calls it her “love language.”
“I like to show Gratitude with my artwork, especially with paintings of flowers, most often roses. I have so many more I want to paint—to give as gifts of gratitude. “I try to be Mindful when planning and painting my work because I am aware that my energy goes into each piece. I want to infuse it with love and kindness.
“I seek Joy especially when I am painting scenes from nature. I find expressions of it that touch me—a morning sunrise, a drive through Riverview Park, a friend’s garden. What I am trying to capture is a bit of the awe I feel.
“When you look at my artwork, I hope you experience a bit of all three.” And she has an idea about how to do that … As the featured member artist, the Gallery always asks the artist to give one piece of their art away. As an embodiment of Gratitude, Pat intends to give away two paintings of roses—one for the recipient, and one for the recipient to gift to someone else as a sign of gratitude.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 with an artist talk at 6:00.
