The Alliance Art Gallery in Hannibal, Missouri is pleased to welcome guest artist Julie D. Nelson during the month of April. Nelson’s current works exemplify her sense of line, composition and color and is the "breath of fresh air" we are all longing for this time of year.
Nelson has been steeped in the arts since birth. Her father is David F. Driesbach, well-known printmaker, and her husband is painter John Nelson. She received both her BFA and MFA degrees in studio art from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, and spent 30 years in art museum positions, including the last 20 years as executive director and curator at the Quincy Art Center in Quincy, Illinois. She retired in the fall of 2014 and returned to studio art, working in water media. She has exhibited regionally and is in collections in the Midwest.
An opening reception for Nelson will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00. This coincides with Second Saturday Gallery Night, which is free to the public.
